I'll have to look around and see how to learn a bit about customising the design of a Blogger page.

This blog is getting too cluttered
I'm having fun adding things, but I can see that in terms of web design, this blog is now too cluttered. Readers would have to scroll down a long way to see all the widgets and gadgets.
Librarything
Visited Librarything and I must admit I don't quite get it, yet. I started to add my favorite books, but found I had to do them one by one and it took ages. I started with my all-time favorite author, Dorothy Dunnett and it linked to Amazon. Every time I added a book I couldn't recall whether it was already on the list and so I think I ended up with multiples.
I'm going to have a try at adding a widget that goes on this blog and says what I'm reading at the moment. I would like that, I must say. Off now to try to figure that out.
Got the widget in place, but now I have to add recent books I've read.
reflection of myself
This is a photo I took on a trip down to Williamstown on the ferry. A group of us were experimenting with our cameras. The picture is chopped off, though, and it seems too difficult at the moment to figure out why. So much to learn!
closeup passionfruit tendril
This is my first try at blogging a picture from flickr.
Okay...
I guess I have to send the photo first, and then edit the text. Good fun!
Trying out flickr
Okay, I already had a Flickr account. I hardly know how to use it, except to put photos into a yahoo photo group I'm in, so I'm glad of the opportunity through this course to try out how things work.
I think I've arranged to send photos from my Flickr to this blog, so now I'll try it out. Not sure how, though. Hmmm...
Maybe I have to close this window and go on over to Flickr. I'll save for now and then come back.
Playing with gadgets
I know I need to get cracking with this blog if I am to finish on time, so I'm off to the library site to see what I'm supposed to do next. In the meantime, I've experimented with some new gadgets down the right side.

Image generator fun

I've never heard of online image generators before, so it was great fun to go and play with FotoTrix. Here's my photo with speech balloon.
I chose the link that has a picture of a baby and says 'Make comics'.
I ended up with two speech balloons on top of each other. I couldn't see any way to fix this problem and finally had to close my browser, Safari, and open up Firefox.
If I understood the site correctly, they host the photo for a few hours. I think if I had been patient and gone back in a few hours, my messed-up photo would have been gone and I could have started all over again. Not sure, though.
I then right-clicked the photo to download it to my desktop and then used Blogger's photo icon on the bar above to include it here.

still practising blogging
Had a rather inauspicious blogging start today, because I forgot which email address I'd used to set this up. However, a few tries finally revealed the one that Blogger would accept.
I'm trying out some 'features' down the right side of the blog. Adding a photo worked okay, but I found the inclusion of Google News didn't interest me, and I didn't have any YouTube channels I wanted to include.
But I'm having fun experimenting. I do have another blog that I write on regularly but I'm too nervous to experiment with it, so it stays in the same format month after month. With this course I feel free to try things out.
By the way, the other blog is called mydog.
Just had the idea of experimenting with the bar across the top of this text box. I'm okay at putting in links, but I'll try out some other things.
First, a different font and a different size.
Second, colour. (Hey, this is fun.)
Okay, now to play with some formatting of the text.
A list of ideas to try:
- YouTube
- Flickr
- More photos
I'm out of ideas.
But as I learn more
Notions will fill
My head.
I must say, all this font and colour mix-up looks terrible. I've learned a lesson and I won't use it so much in future.
I've had a try at adding a blog counter, also.
